The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU), established by the UN General Assembly Resolution 64/288 on 1 July 2010, is mandated to enhance the partnership between the United Nations and the African Union in the area of peace and security.

POSITION: INTERN – PUBLIC INFORMATION – DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS
Qualifications/special skills:
1. Educational Requirements
At the time of application, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
2. Field of Study
The field of study must be closely related to the type of internship being applied for. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to:
- Communications
- Media Studies
- Public Relations
- Journalism
- International Relations
- Political Science
- Gender Studies
- Peace and Security Studies
- Other related disciplines
3. Technical Skills
Applicants should have proficiency in standard word processing and software applications such as:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
Applicants should also be familiar with social media platforms and digital content creation tools, including:
- Canva
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Video editing software
Prior experience in managing digital platforms, creating visual content, or supporting communication campaigns will be considered an advantage.
4. Interest in the Work of the United Nations
Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and show personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.
5. Intercultural Skills
Applicants should have the ability to successfully interact with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to understand and respect differing opinions and perspectives.
Additional Information
Applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, the field of study must be closely related to the type of internship being applied for.
Applicants must be:
- A student in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree programme (or equivalent),
- Enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. programme, or
- A graduate who has completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
